Elegance In Chains- Byzantine Chainmaille Bracelet Giveaway!

Momma always had a good eye for 2 things; a bargain, and otherwise forgotten, trash's hidden potential. She could pick up a broken scrap of teapot and turn it into the most gorgeous mosaic coaster, or wrap an old wine bottle in decopage for exotic bath oils. I've never stopped marveling, and attempting, to see the world through her eyes- it must be magnificent. This is precisely why I spend much more time than I should simply 'window' browsing (get it?) on Etsy. More than a great steal on this season's Coach bags, I delight in finding a piece of elegance unearthed by a fellow artist's thoughtful hands. I can browse hundreds of thousands of creations from across the globe, and take in the sights of things never before dreamed, all from the comfort of my living room couch.

When one thinks of metal, in general, they think hard, cold, and dark. The term 'chainmaille' has never evoked a particularly interest in me. I'd always considered finely woven links of metal more of an ancient armor fit for cheesy bedroom comedy sketches and Renaissance Fairs. I admired the skill and beauty of linens comprised solely of metal, but never would have labeled it as particularly 'elegant'. So how Kelly Leary got into the business of dabbling with intricate metallic loops, colored across a rainbow, and composed to be presented as jewelry- surely must require the type of eyes my mother always referred too. For, in Elegance In Chains, Kelly has managed to define her own bold, yet compellingly soft, line of chain based jewelry.

Based out of Toronto, Canada, this unsuspecting shop features a bold and lasting impact. I'd argue, no mater your tastes, it's hard to turn away- the customer is drawn in to the simple beauty of these woven pieces. There are some truly wonderful multi-strand chokers and cuff in more traditional chainmaille fashion, such as the European 4-In-1 Bracelet. There are also some dainty pieces that pop with bold metallic color, such as the Byzantine Chainmaille Necklace with it's vivid violet hues. I love how the color peeks through the stainless steel/aluminum rings! The simple toggle clasp adds to it's attraction with a non standard closure.

While the larger, more intricate pieces run a reasonable price range, admirers can also choose from more affordable options under $10. Several brilliantly beaded chandelier style earrings make an appearance in the shop- my favorite being the Byzantine Beaded Earrings (Red) at $6! For the same price you'll also find the 7-8 inch Box Chain Chainmaile Bracelet in Pink, a wonderfully unique accessory for any age. I should note that on most items sizing is generally adjustable at no extra charge, simply let Kelly know at the time of purchase and she'll be happy to accommodate your needs. In general, the only complaint I have about Elegance in Chains is the inventory fluctuating so much. Every time I see something I love- it disappears, so be sure to purchase when you can!

I was sent a Box Chain Chainmaille Bracelet in Blue for review here on Momma Told Me and was delighted to find an attention to packaging. My bracelet arrived in a satin pouch, inside an envelope box branded 'Elegance In Chains', 100% ready to gift. Inside the satin pouch was a stunning, yes, elegant, bracelet. Not only do I love the weight the tightly woven metal gives to this piece, but the color that peeks through every other run is incredibly brilliant, and the toggle clasp tops off the look perfectly. Photos simply do not do this piece justice, the way it shimmers in the sunlight, and catches shadows for an added dramatic depth. Not to mention, the single strand Box Chain bracelet comes in a multitude of colors and can pass for a male/female accessory!
