Momma Told Me: Sometimes you fall in love with the story more than the item.

As far back as my memory takes me I can recall clutching Momma's hand as we strolled down the aisles of our local Salvation Army or Goodwill. When you land on a product page at Savorii you'll find candid images highlighting the item's character and concept. Pricing ranges, and often reflects the artisan's time and materials accurately- all handmade items are guaranteed to be one of a kind, and some are even made to order. This means you can often request small variations in material or size, for a truly meaningful gift or keepsake. I was sent a selection of items from Savorii for review here on Momma Told Me, one of which being their signature Boston Symphony Satchel designed by actual Music Director, James Pearse. Intended originally to carry sheet music, these are made 100% in the USA, and contribute $10 each to the St. Francis House Homeless Shelter. Made from re-purposed burlap coffee bean sacks, with a sturdy black lining and black leather strap, this satchel is spacious and stores flat. I've found, while this product is rich in character, it also doubles well for modern electronic storage (iPad, netbooks, small laptops). At 9"x11", $85 may seem like a hefty asking price, but the rugged materials are sure to last, and the philanthropic efforts make this a worthy purchase.

When I unpacked the brand's Everlasting Angels I was immediately reminded of similar pieces my own mother used to make from scrap fabric during craft season. Made from various colors, and materials, these inspirational ornaments are substantial in size (about 8") and feature lightweight wire halos and wings with meaningful phrases. I can think of several girlfriends and mothers who would love to have one dangling from their dash, or adorning their Christmas tree. At just $29 this is a wonderful passport holder and includes a detachable leather strap. Hook this to your luggage when traveling or simply wear it around your neck. I've fallen in love with all of the in house Savorii creations, as well as the guest artisans they feature. When looking for meaningful gifts, it's certainly the place to shop!
