When we reflect upon Valentine's Day we often think of dewey eyed lovers, sitting hand in hand, on a journey through the tunnel of love. Champagne, chocolates, and roses are perhaps the most iconic romantic symbols. Personally I am a firm believer in being a romantic for the sake of being a romantic. No, not the type of girl who sits on her couch waiting for her Prince to sweep her off her feet with a string quartet and dove release (which actually can get quite messy, but I digress), the type of human who appreciates everyday beauty and simplicity. I'm often called 'old school', or even 'crazy', when I attempt to explain how happy something as simple as uncovering a forgotten toy from childhood makes me. Ordinary things that are often overlooked for their seemingly mundane and repetitive existence; like the setting sun, or the scent of fresh laundry, or the promise of a new day and it's endless possibilities- that incites my passion.
I've already professed my take on the commercialism of 'Valentine's Day', the notion that specified days, throughout the year, should be set aside to celebrate the ones important in our lives. Granted, it's hard work being a mother, a wife, a husband, a friend, a sister- and all of these roles certainly deserve love and recognition. However, as Momma and I have come to realize, no piece of paper, or store bought card will ever really convey those feelings. (We're the mother/daughter duo who email to say 'Happy you made it another year', rather than exchange extravagant gifts and sentiment) My point? Love is year-round, and the people in your life who are extraordinary need no reason to be acknowledged. Live each day with your heart open wide, and love with every minute you get- a romantic notion Timepiece company Mistura has adopted from their very inception.
As a romantic, one of my favorite soft spots includes expressive art, especially of the 'green' kind. Loving the environment, and the world around you is simply another way of respecting yourself, and future generations. The best part? Being Eco-conscious doesn't have to be as stigmatic as chaining yourself to a tree, or wearing trash bags, in fact, going 'Green' can be the height of couture fashion. More and more runways are turning their focus to functional fashion with a pulse. What does that mean exactly? Brands like Mistura are taking eco-friendly to the next level with fully integrated sustainable practices that consider the processing of raw materials, recyclable materials, and natural beauty. How can a watch be natural and a piece of artistic design, while still remaining functional as a timepiece?
Combining precision Japanese movements with naturally treated leathers, exotic wood, and low impact processing Mistura has forged a name as one of the most elegant and desirable timepiece companies on the current market. From the bold and nautical inspired VERSATA collection to the soft and feminine ECLISSI collection, each and every Mistura style evokes passionate emotion and thought provoking consideration. The colors and finishes chosen from wood to leather combine seamlessly for a bold, yet pricelessly natural timepiece. Within each, limited edition, collection the colors shift like a kaleidoscope of color combinations, and prints, with selections always changing and each piece a truly unique work of art.
I received a Ferro Collection Mistura timepiece in Santa Elena (White Leather with Chestnut Frame and Rainbow Floral Face), for consideration here during Bubbles of Love. With a base price of $205, I was ecstatic to find a wood based watch currently in stock, and happy to find it relied on a precision Japanese movement. Competing wood watch brands are frequently sold out, back-ordered for months, and generally uniform (limited) in style. Mistura is a virtual artistic showcase, with dozens of styles to choose from, and a palette of colors within each. But be sure to snap up your favorite, when you see it, these don't tend to circle back around into production and are highly collectible as accessories and Eco-conscious works of art!
The FERRO timepiece I received arrived packaged in a gift worthy, recycled material base, cover box. The watch itself was wrapped loosely around a velvet pillow, and an included insert outlined the eco significance and inspiration behind this timepiece. The extra wide band, and stylistically large notches enhanced the bold and modern concept of the FERRO, while the intricate detail of stitchwork and minimalistic (4 Dot Indicator) Face helped bring a touch of femininity. In general this watch reminds me of an exotic island chain, with fresh Spring colors and a flirty wooden clasp. The thick leather band tends to be stiff at first, and can wear a little more like a bangle, but I suspect the leather will soften more comfortably with age.
Many February ads would have you think Diamonds are a girl's best friend. I would beg to differ. When it comes to romantic gifting I prefer a thoughtful gift that is as unique, and beautiful as myself. Mistura captures the beauty of nature within a precision timepiece that is sure to suit any recipient.
What Daughter Says: Take a page from the elegance of Mistura time pieces; gift an eco-artistic wood face watch.

One Momma Told Me follower will win the Mistura FERRO Santa Elena timepiece, as featured above.
