Omaha Steaks: 5oz Filet Mignon and Individual Cheesecakes

Momma Told Me: There's no faster way to one's heart, than through their stomach.

This month I'm divulging my family's secret for gifting smiles; a flash frozen box of gourmet steaks, sides, burgers, desserts, and more, from Omaha Steaks. Since my own childhood, we have counted on this company to fill stomachs and inspire the taste-buds of our closest family and friends. With easily customizable gift bundles and an expansive array of quality protein packs in every cut imaginable, you can be sure your recipient is getting a gift worth sharing (though the instinct to horde is sure to be strong). After watching my father send countless care packages across country to my grandparents through the years, I still recall the thrill of actually receiving my very first Omaha Steaks gift. It arrived in a clearly marked Styrofoam cooler packed with dry ice, each individual item labeled in it's own crimson box. It truly was a mulch-facted gift that continued to give through weeks of enjoyed Potatoes au Gratin and Top Sirloin.
Omaha Steaks is so much more than a simple mail order food company. Though still recognized, and used, by hundreds of acclaimed food service restaurants and companies nationwide, Omaha has perfected the art of gifting fine food. With competitive pricing on their best cuts of meat, and plenty of supplemental products, such as savory sides and decadent desserts, it's not hard to understand how preferred customers forgo the excuse of an occasion when ordering. These individually portioned parcels arrive frozen, ready to cook with a simple overnight thaw, and clearly labeled cooking instructions. You'll even fine safe cooking temperatures and tips on how to achieve the perfect temperature cut. Some specialty items and proteins, such as the 5oz Filet Mignon, and most sides, can be prepared directly from the freezer. Because each box contains multiple servings (as selected when building your order), each portion is neatly wrapped in an easy peel/open pouch or individual tray, eliminating wasted food. Simply cook what you are planning on eating, and place the remaining, sealed, portions back in the freezer for another day!
Omaha Steaks was one of the first nationwide distributors of precision packaged, direct parcel shipped, protein goods. They didn't copy other business models, they wrote their own; and they've carefully fine tuned their practices throughout the following years. Their selection of artisan meats and gourmet foods is always evolving, and the company's customer service is top notch. In dozens of shipments, I've only ever had one issue with an order arrival delay (thanks to unforeseen extreme weather), and Omaha was quick to rectify the problem beyond my expectations. So, it is with great pleasure, and excited taste buds, that I am amidst a 4 week look into the life of an Omaha Steaks Ideal Gift Bundle. One of this season's hottest gifts, a specially crafted collection of Omaha Steaks' finest and most popular selections, the Ideal Gift Bundle is currently on sale for just $69.99 (a $152 value). Be sure to tune in each week, leading up to Blog POP!'s Christmas Wishes event (November 28, 29, 30), to drool over my Omaha creations and prepare for the enticing giveaway they have planned, where one lucky reader will win a $100 Gift Certificate to create their own dream bundle! With the busy holidays quickly approaching, wouldn't it be nice to have a box of gourmet meats and desserts drop on your doorstep?
I am a self professed meat lover. While I recognize it may not be everyone's preference, I enjoy the major protein cuts in a variety of cuts. Because it is most readily available, and often the most affordable, my family frequently focuses on chicken for it's base protein; but if I had my way we'd be eating a nice Pork Chop Cutlet or N.Y. Strip every night. Unfortunately the simple truth is that the cost of meat fluctuates so dramatically, and our local butcher is so rarely on call when I am shopping, only the early birds enjoy the benefits of fresh cut meat at an affordable price. Whenever I have the chance to put a tender, juicy, steak on the table it is a true treat we certainly savor. It goes without saying, whenever an Omaha Steak's sirloin lands on those plates we are indeed spoiled. Having Omaha's fine cuts throughout the years has certainly made me more critical of restaurant chains and grocery store selection. Every Omaha Steak Cut includes a Certificate of Satisfaction which promises the customer a perfectly cut portion of exceptional quality. This Unconditional Guarantee qualifies every customer to exchange their steaks if unsatisfied for any reason; ensuring even the pickiest of carnivores will be impressed.
While we received both Top Sirloin and Filet Mignon in our Ideal Gift Bundle, I couldn't resist 'sampling' the Filet first. Known industry wide as one of the most tender cuts of beef a filet will currently run you a whopping $32.99/lb at my local butcher. On sale right now, at OmahaSteaks.com are 6 (6oz) Bacon Wrapped Filet Mignon portions for just $69.99; a very competitive price. Of course, if I tried to complain to my local butcher about the quality of the cut, post purchase I'd be hard pressed to receive a refund or full replacement! However, as wonderful as this guarantee is, Omaha's filets have been literally astounding tastebuds at our family table for years. My father swears by their full flavor and ease of preparation; you would never know these steaks were previously frozen. I recall, last November, our relatives were visiting from Massachusetts and my pop whipped up some Filets he's received for his birthday in June. It was the perfect last minute meal, and even the staunchest of filet critics went home raving. (We're talking a couple that easily pays $6/ounce for a filet in a restaurant.) I love Omaha Steaks Filet Mignon for it's time tested flavor, requiring no seasoning, and shining with the slightest of effort.
You'll note how beautiful the color and texture is of the Medium Filet Mignon we prepared. Filet's are notorious for keeping their red hue, and retaining juices, even when over-cooked (Medium-Well). Still, you'd be hard pressed to cook the color out of this cut, which practically melts in one's mouth. I served this to the other half, alongside a Spinach and Feta Stuffed Portobelo and he immediately asked, 'Is this Filet Mignon?' The meat certainly spoke for itself as we indulged in every butter soft bite; true gourmet in our own home! Then, for dessert, I pulled out some pre-thawed Omaha Steaks Individual Cheesecakes. Sent in a package of 4 mini tins; Turtle, Classic NY, Raspberry Swirl, and Oreo flavored Cheesecakes were quite decadent in themselves. We shared just one portion, which easily popped out of it's plastic vessel for beautiful presentation. I simply cannot sing enough praises for Omaha's unparallelled gourmet dining experience at home!

I am always worried about sending perishable items as gifts. But it seems like Omaha Steaks has it down to a science to ensure it gets to its destination ready for cooking and eating.
