Momma Told Me: When I was a kid, if you were lucky enough to get a Pinata you had 2 choices- Star Shaped or Poorly Copyright Infringed 'Mikey' the Mouse.
Sadly, the new generation of children are more likely to throw tantrums over the size or shape of their Moon Bounce, but when I was a kid- well, it was all about the Pinata. Nothing rocked the block more than a dangerously hoisted projectile, stuffed with candy, and manned by the somewhat tipsy uncle (often backseat driven by every other man present who thought they could do a better job evading the unsuspecting blindfolded party-goer). It never ceased to amaze me how much amusement the adults would get from watching their children swat aimlessly several feet away from the actual pinata, or how much hair would be pulled fighting over those first few specks of fallen plunder. I simply love these paper mache creations. You can fill them with just about anything (it doesn't have to be unhealthy sweets), and the playful destruction of such a colorful and cheery pinata is worth it's weight in therapy sessions!
As it turns out the art of Pinata crafting is making a comeback, and in a big way. More and more adults, celebrities, and even corporations are commissioning custom pieces for their own frivolous destruction. And how does one make something already traditionally awesome even more amazing? By making it larger of course! Much larger! And Pinata Casa does just that with skillfully crafted, personally designed, pinatas double the size of standard store bought ones. With countless news mentions, celebrity commissions (Dick Clark's Rocking New Year's Eve), and company projects for HBO, Threadless, and Absolut), Pinata Casa is THE place to make your Spring or Summer event a true 'hit'.
Now between my side of the family and the hubby's we have 14 birthdays from June-August (including mine!). 'Tis the season for partying, and boy do we like to party hard! But birthday's aren't the only bash a pinata can liven up, Baby Showers, Bachelorette Parties, Fourth of July, Graduation, and Workplace Celebrations are all great reasons to bust out the whacking stick. Browse pages of pre-designed Pinatas, starting under $70, or have your own work of art commissioned to match a theme or individual. Sizing ranges from traditional 2'x2' to 4'x4', and custom pricing is based on size, at an affordable $79-$89 range. Considering the planning and handmade work that goes into a custom pinata, and the generous sizing, it's a true deal!
Ordering a custom Pinata from Pinata Casa couldn't be easier, simply fill out their on site request form. They'll need the date of your big event, any relevant colors/themes, attach an image of the inspired person/object, and pick a size! The wait time is about 2 weeks from request to door, and shipping is a flat $25 anywhere within the US. The pinatas come unfilled, but you can order candy/filler from Pinata Casa as well, if desired, and their average pinata holds up to 5lbs or candy!
Each pinata features a wire hanger atop, meant to be hoisted via rope and suspended during play. Because these are authentic Mexican Pinatas, they are not allowed to be stuffed or cut prior to shipping. Pinata Casa is sure to leave a sticker above the appropriate filling cavity, simply cut 3 sides of a square for a flap, and fill.
Pinata Casa was awesome enough to make Momma Told Me a custom, inspired, pinata for review here on the blog during Spring Fling! They took one look at our site and nailed the retro vibe. Doesn't she look sort of like a certain famous 'Lucy'? This 4ft tall pinata has a flowing dress, with 'tied' apron and is almost as tall as our resident 7 year old! I couldn't be more thrilled with the outcome and must say this is built incredibly well. I just love the features and little details that truly bring our Momma to life! I can't thank Pinata Casa enough for providing the star of our Spring Fling event, and guarantee I will be back for our next big family gathering!
What Daughter Says: Pinata Casa takes the pinata to the next level!
