#Ad- Say Bye Bye To Cold Feet With ThermaCELL Heated Insoles- Giveaway

Momma Told Me: If you don't keep your feet warm out there you'll freeze to death!

I was raised in Southern California, where I still live to this day- but that doesn't mean I am ignorant to the chill of Winter. In fact, in college, I was living in Rhode Island, where I worked 3 jobs and had to walk to work, along a highway, in the snow, after my first car wrecked on black ice. Obviously, this young SoCal girl wasn't cut out for the brutality of life quite yet, so I ended up moving back to the West Coast after just over a month of that regimen. Regardless, I am reminded every year, by my loving family on the East Coast, of the true 'Winter' experience. And as kushy as us Southern Californians seem to have it out here, Jay and I live on the beach, which presents it's own set of climate challenges.

In fact, Jay works on the marina, as private security for an upscale waterfront community- he has worked morning, swing, and grave- tied up wayward boats, patrolled by bike in the rain, and endured the sharpest of wind chills and seaside fogs. While I am toasty here in our condo, he is often out numbing his fingers and toes straight through 3 am patrols and early morning reports.Last year, to remedy this, we purchased several self-activated hot packs intended to be stashed in gloves and the soles of shoes. While the hand warmers were affordable and worked great inside the pockets of his patrol jacket, these bulky packs were uncomfortable to wear while walking around in boots all day. When the kind people of ThermaCELL informed me of a brand new product, Heated Insoles, for the Winter I knew Jay had to have them.

ThermaCELL is a brand we have trusted in our home for everything from outdoor pest control and heating to hair styling. As the company enters 2015 they are turning their focus solely to pest repellent and outdoor extreme weather comfort, ie: Heated Insoles. These revolutionary climate control foot warmers are sold online through the ThermaCELL website and at fine retailers such as Cabela's, DICK's Sporting Goods, L.L. Bean, and more. Sold in Standard and ProFlex (with removable battery for versatility,) these heated insoles operate entirely on a rechargeable battery which provides up to 5 hours of consistent warmth.

Jay was initially a bit skeptical of the comfort level involved in potentially standing on a heating pad and battery all day but we were both surprised at the low profile of the insoles. Not only are the different sizes easy to trim for the perfect fit in your shoes or boots, but the switch and charging bay located on the heel is discreet an unobtrusive n wear and use. The insole material, itself, is also water resistant to sweat and general moisture, making them very resilient in even wet and icy climates. Best of all ThermaCELL's Heated Insoles include a wireless remote so the wearer can toggle between No Heat, Medium Heat (100F), and High Heat (111F).

We found the insoles began emitting heat, from the pad located just forward of the ball of the foot, almost instantly, but was never directly hot to the touch. These insoles work by regulating heat within the shoe, which ultimately insulates and circulates the heat for overall comfort. Not only did they works quite efficiently, but Jay found he could turn them on and off throughout his shifts and did not need to run them constantly to stay warm.

While the ProFlex Heated Insoles offer USB charging and a removable battery, we found the 5 hour life of these removable heated insoles proved just right for our colder climate, sans snow. If you or a loved one works in icy or freezing conditions for a prolonged time I'd suggest upgrading the the more versatile ProFlex for the nominal difference in price. As someone who spends a decent amount of spare change on fancy insoles for extended wear comfort, Jay said these passed approval for moderate wear (5-6 hour shifts) with the added benefit of constant temperate comfort.

Momma taught me that keeping your head and feet covered were the surest ways to maintain warmth in even the coldest environments. While, back then, she primarily meant choosing to wear socks and shoes over sandals, at Big Bear Mountain, I'm quite sure these insoles are a step in the right direction as we move further into Winter.

What Daughter Says: Keep your feet warm and toasty to help regulate body temperature!
