When I was young, fresh out of high school and in college, I loved all things girlie. I wouldn't let a warm Southern California day go by without sporting a Summer Dress or a flowy skirt and heels. But, as women know all too well, time is not always so kind to our curves, and sizes and shapes tend to change. My weight has fluctuated quite a bit over the past ten years, and only recently did I drop over 60lbs after a serious health scare. I never was a 'big' girl, but I've never been a 'small' girl either. I have curves, from head to toe, and this can be a difficult fashion hurdle for a 5'11" woman entering her 30s. I still want to be fun and flirty, but I also want to be modest and feminine. And that is how I fell in love with Karina dresses, a brand that truly makes a dress for every body.

With 12 core designs, and numerous prints within each design, the Karina collection is always evolving through the season and to meet their customer's demands. Several of the styles, such as the Gala and Lauren even offer different cuts and lengths to suit the wearer's tastes. When I dress up I don't always want my unfinished ink (tattoos) showing, so I look for 3/4 sleeves that make me less self conscious. I also love bright and vivid colors, which is where the Penelope criss-cross, V-front, pleated skirt, pocket rocking dress comes in. It's Purple Plaid print has been making it's way through the fashion blogger community and I have been ever so jealous of how fabulous it looks on women of every age, shape, and size!

That's precisely why I chose to feature the Penelope dress in Seashell for this round of the Karina Frockstar™ Nation events, it's the perfect fit for me inside and out! As a full busted woman, I was a little concerned about fitting in the top of the dress, but was happy to see there was ample coverage, and I could just as simply wear a lightweight cami underneath should the event call for it. When I  first featured this dress in Purple Plaid it was a little short for my frame. I was pleased to note this fabric and print was very flattering and the extra inches I've lost since then put this Penelope at the perfect length.

Several of the styles, such as the Gala and Lauren even offer different cuts and lengths to suit the wearer's tastes.A lot of the dresses feature fabrics in beautiful bold prints that certainly make a statement, though the designs, themselves, are forgiving and simple. After having tried the Magenta Safari Gala Wrap Dress and the Penelope in Purple Plaid, I wanted to find a Karina that was a little closer to my comfort zone; something almost vintage in style. In a Navy With White Polka Dot print, this fun and flirty capped sleeve dress swings just at my knees and is ever so comfortable.

Karina Dresses are made to flatter women of every size, and I certainly am a well endowed, full figure, woman. That being said, I have had my challenges with the bust on previous dresses, and this was no exception. When I first put the Nora on it nearly swallowed my chest, showing nothing but fabric up to my neck. This was great for my Aunt's 90'th birthday celebration, with the entire family gathered, but for my photo-shoot I wanted to look a little younger. For the evening, I pair the cap sleeves with a lightweight shrug that can easily be removed for dancing. To accessorize the V-Cross front I used a chunky cherry red enamel bib necklace, my faithful Chicken Purse (for just a little extra Kitsch), some Mary Janes from Torrid and a Red Polka Dot Ribbon in my hair.

That's precisely why I chose to feature the Penelope dress in Purple Plaid for this round of the Karina Dresstacular™, it's the perfect fit for me inside and out! Made with a lightweight and comfortable poly blend fabric, and available in 4 sizes, with 3/4 sleeves it offers immense versatility here in So Cal. As a full busted woman, I was a little concerned about fitting in the top of the dress, but was happy to see there was ample coverage, and I could just as simply wear a lightweight cami underneath should the event call for it. The high waistband, however, does tend to make the hem of the skirt a little high, or short if you will, with my long torso and legs. For modesty sake, out and about, I layer a colorful slip skirt beneath to help cover me, and wear the dress without the skirt when at the beach or a similar party where more skin is acceptable.

The pockets in the front of the Penelope are a nice twist I find makes this dress a little more playful and casual overall. I especially enjoyed playing up the turquoise 'stitching' detail in the fabric's print, which allowed me to really make the dress my own. Most importantly, the Penelope is comfortable and I almost feel like I am in college again, and that does a great thing for a woman's confidence! Karina Dresses #Dresstacular Preview- I Model The Gala In Magenta Safari!

Can you fall in love with the same dress over and over? As someone who was out of a training bra by 8, I've argued against dresses my entire life. With a shapely figure that features an ample bust, shopping for feminine clothes that is comfortable, tasteful, and complimenting has long seemed impossible. A few years back I bought a $120 black wrap dress for $12 on clearance at a Kohl's, and I have since made it my mission to wear that one and only dress. It was comfortable, the wrap fit accentuated the right curves, and if I needed to wear a little extra color for an occasion I'd simply add a belt or a shrug.

Then some of my fiends began buzzing about Karina dresses. They'd post pictures on Instagram or Facebook at family and social engagements looking like models. I was jealous, I bought a few new broaches and a scarf to go with my LBD. In time my jealousy turned to curiosity, how could one label outfit so many shapes, sizes, and styles of women? The same dress was showcased on a grandmother here, and on a busty millennial there. In fact, Karina prides themselves on making stylish dresses for 'every-body,' that's a flattering print, fabric, and fit for any size or modesty. They have a core set of 12 designs they constantly innovate with slight modifications and new prints. All of their dresses are made with easy to care for materials that can be cold washed and hung dry for wear day after day, adding to the simplicity of the brand and concept.

While Karina has many beautiful dresses from the criss-cut V-band Penelope, to the lined halter Rosa, the Gala immediately caught my eye and set my heart aflutter in it's 3/4 Sleeve 2013 Fall rendition. I was first drawn to the Silver hue, with it's sweetheart neckline, the Gala had a touch of vintage romance I'd imagine a Marilyn inspired starlet would wear. When I had a chance to choose an actual print for my own Gala, the task was a hefty one- I loved the bold Pink Cheetah and Gold Marble patterns just as much as the 'safer' Silver, but in the end wound up settling on the Magenta Safari. This dress had everything I loves, bright vivid colors, and animal print- but could I pull it off?

There's no doubt I turn heads in my Gale dress, by Karina. This dress is styled in a one-size manner that suits women 2-12, and I am a 14 with a DD bust, so you can certainly see how accommodating Karina dresses are. I especially loved the 3/4 sleeve on this rendition of the gala, which adds a little more modesty to offset the revealing sweetheart cut on my ample bust. Wrap dresses are very forgiving for various figures and also allow the wearer to sort of tailor their fit at the waist and bust-line. With a paid of leggings, this knee length Gala is ready for cooler weather, and will transition beautifully into Spring thanks to the light fabric that breathes easy and is comfortable to wear. I couldn't love my Gala Karina dress any more!
