Momma Told Me: More gadgets, more accessories!
As a 20 something (That's what we're supposed to call ourselves when we're closer to the end, than the beginning, right?), I was raised amidst some very exciting technological developments. Not only was modern technology booming in the form of digital media, personal PCs, and video game systems, but everyday consumers latched onto these technologies with the same fervor as they had the modern television. Am I envious I wasn't part of the classrooms issued iPads? No. I find great merit in hands on applications, just as much as those guided by technology's insight. However, I do see immense value in the integration of technology into everyday tasks. It's clear I'm not the only one, with countless phones released featuring mini processors and Cloud storage. Our devices continually meld into one, making multi-tasking possible on the go, from any location. This Spring productivity should be at an all time high in my household. Last summer I finally made the plunge into the 'i' market and purchased my iPad2- however, even with the gorgeous touchscreen and illuminated keypad, I struggle to create more than a sentence or two of content. While I have been typing since my childhood, there is still something about this innate skill that interacts better with the soft spring of a button, and the gentle nub of the guide keys. At last, I decided it would be a necessary investment for my household to acquire a Bluetooth Keyboard from Penny Wise Office Products. Nearly all smartphones, tablets, and personal laptops have Bluetooth technology, meaning such a device could easily transition into my main keyboard in a pinch. You may recall last year my laptop's keyboard began adding 20 spaces between each character and I had to wait 2 weeks for an HP rep to come out and replace it. Boy could I have used something like the Verbatim 97537 Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard then!
One would think there are only so many frills a Bluetooth keyboard could have. One of my desired features would be some sort of internal battery/USB charging option, unfortunately, this model does not have that. Instead, it operates on 2 AAA batteries tucked into an internal compartment on the inside of the keyboard. What the Verbatim Bluetooth Keyboard does offer is an ultra compact, self protecting, fold-up design that actually locks the two halves into place for security during travel. In addition, the brand has included a beautiful leather-like carrying case that will easily compliment your carrying aids for other devices. Something equally unique, though not a feature I have use for, is the slide out iPhone stand (compatible with some other wide framed phones), that positions the phone above the keyboard when typing, for added stability.
When folded flat, the Verbatim Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard from Penny Wise Office has a very low profile with quiet keys that respond naturally and efficiently. Along the left edge of the keyboard are some basic media interaction keys to control any music/digital media streaming, as one would with a basic player. Note: media is streamed through your Bluetooth device, yet controlled with the navigation buttons on the connected keyboard. Setting up the keyboard is elementary for anyone who has ever paired a Bluetooth device. Simple indicator lights on the face of the unit will inform you of the connection progress and a simple switch toggles the unit on/off. At the very top, center, of the keyboard is a useful 'lock' button which will stabilize the two halves into one sturdy whole. For enthusiastic typers this is a nice feature that minimizes sound when typing and helps ensure accuracy.
I'll admit, there are many portable Bluetooth keyboards on the market, and choosing one is no simple task. I was hesitant of the concept, all together, initially. I have since found the Verbatim Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard to be quite natural to use, and incredibly convenient to store. Because it easily pairs with so many of our electronic devices, via the common Bluetooth integration, I find it great to have on hand when traveling. While I may not anticipate it's use, I never know what might pop up; typing an email on this portable keyboard, over a phone screen, saves me some sanity! My only concern with this design would be the very shiny plastic exterior, which will easily scratch and scuff when in use; the included carrying case helps, but does not diminish this fact. Be sure to tuck away a thin screen cleaning cloth or other fabric scrap to place the keyboard on when typing. This will keep it beautiful and functional!
What Daughter Says: The Verbatim Bluetooth Keyboard is compatible with many common household electronics, making it a worthy investment.
