These simple life hacks will help change your outlook, and maybe even those around you, in just a few minutes a day. #TheWooOfPoo #AD
I'm what people like to call 'Type A'.

It makes getting out of bed in the morning easy, but every other part of the day extremely tedious and exhausting. The need to be and do my very best in even the smallest activities I attempt can quickly make life feel more like a chore than an adventure.

When I succeed I thrive, and quickly move on to the next goal or project- when I fail I'm often left ruminating over what I could have done to make things go differently.

My mother once told me, "You're never going to please everyone, so you might as well please yourself."
For those like me, who often feel as though life has caught them with their pants down, that little quote can mean so very much.

Those who are driven to succeed are often successful, but are also not very good at handling failure. We tend to judge ourselves far more harshly than those on the outside looking in at us, and frequently experience anxiety over topics and decisions an ordinary person would otherwise not think twice on.

But the only person you can guarantee to please is yourself- so in truth, you are the one person you should never disappoint!
I know you, because you're like me.

You're sitting, standing, squatting, lying there thinking, "But Jenna, I'm not perfect. That's impossible. I'm bound to fail at something, somewhere."

This is true, and the first thing you can do to please yourself if to accept this. Failure is a fact of life- but failure is also defined by you. Sure there are pass/fail markers and measurements on many aspects of life- but the simple act of you writing something off as a failure is entirely in your own mindset.

It sounds simple, but you and I know it's a hard concept to put into action.

On the same note, pleasing yourself begins much deeper with small steps you can take to help improve your self, and world perception, one shift (or as the author would say sh*t) at a time.

I recently stumbled across a delightfully tongue-in-cheek, quite literal bathroom book, on Amazon called The WOO of POO: Change Your Life In The Time You Take a Sh*t by Suzy Batiz and The Poo Crew. It's a fabulously illustrated inspirational/self help read designed with short, easy to read, chapters intended to be consumed on the toilet (or anywhere else you have a few stolen moments of peace and quiet in your life).
1. The WOO of POO

What makes Suzy Batiz and her Poo Crew worthy of your golden throne moments, or experienced enough to tell you how to shift your life one squat at a time? Well, Suzy is the inventory of a very popular and innovative bathroom aid, Poo~Pourri- the Before-You-Go® Toilet Spray. She not only innovated a convenient, great smelling, product users could spray on their toilet water's surface before going to mask offending smells, she pioneered the discussion of poo in a shame free environment. You may have seen her viral video "Girl's Don't Poop" on YouTube (if not, you should go now, it's well worth the 2 minutes of your life), and you may recognize the witty redhead in a blue dress with punny sentiments on the art of pooing.

Yes, Suzy has built an empire on poo, well, the WOO of POO to be exact; but there's a very deliberate method to the madness of her entrepre-manuerial success. See what I did there?

The WOO of POO: Change Your Life In The Time You Take a Sh*t shares the uniquely positive and moving outlet of every stage of Suzy's success, and how you can use these lessons and tricks as tools in your own everyday life. It's a delightfully punny read that seamlessly weaves in real-world advice and actual practices you can begin implementing immediately to help change your universe.
Note how I said 'your universe'- changing the world is great, and you should never give up those aspirations, but changing the micro-universe of your everyday life is ultimately going to spill over into things much grander and even more amazing.

It's like they say, what's good for the goose, is good for the gander- Don't expect your universe to rock your socks unless you show up just as open-minded, and prepared inside and out, yourself.

2. Embrace yourself.

I don't mean a literal hug- though, studies have shown quite literally wrapping one's arms around themselves for 30 seconds a day might be quite beneficial. I mean really having a deep conversation with yourself about what makes you you.

As yourself what it is you love about yourself. When those inevitable faults and criticisms sneak in during this internal conversation tell them to take a rain check. It's important you identify what you are genuinely proud of. What is it that you do better than anyone else you know. What is your favorite feature about yourself? What brings you pure joy- I don't mean fresh baked cookies joy, I mean something that satisfies your soul so much not a single negative criticism, worry, or thought ever dared sneak in while you were doing that one thing.

Identify these things and do them often. If it's your bright green eyes you love most, buy a new top that brings them out even more. If you have the best recipe for apple pie cookies in the state make them more often- don't only make them, make them and share that pride and joy with others. Your pride and good vibes are definitely contagious!
Suzy Batiz, (author of The WOO of POO: Change Your Life In The Time You Take a Sh*t) also suggests you embrace yourself by doing "Epic Sh*t" and notes that "fear is always going to be there when you are doing something creative". This is something especially true for us 'Type A's' who tend to have creative aspirations but stay on calculated projects and paths where the outcome can be predicatively analyzed.

Once you've identified what it is about you that makes you the awesomest version of you its time to step out of that comfort zone and accept that fear as a badge, rather than a roadblock!
3. Discover Your Flow.

In a particularly inspiring chapter, early on in Suzy's book she encourages her readers to "Let It Flow", in a punny analogy intended to inspire both on the toilet and in real life.

Coming off of Tip #2, above, she notes that we as humans often lose track of who we are in an attempt to live someone else's life. Take a look around. Are you where you want to be? Is your home filled with items you can't recall the importance of, your closet full of things you rarely wear and bought for the expensive labels, or your work a simple means to an end of an income?

Suzy sites Wu Wei Wu (action without action) as the state of finding your own path when you put the least effort into guiding it. Sometimes, in life, we are so focused on where we are going that we entirely skip the journey. As a result our minds appear closed off to new opportunities and paths that the universe is subtly making for us.

The more you work on embracing your true self, and the positive, real, you, the more your mind's eye will perceive these open doorways and the path the universe has laid out for you.
4. What's On The Inside Counts, Too.

This one is a no-brainer, far from ground-breaking, concept that you have undoubtedly heard echoed since childhood.

You are what you eat.

Much like the mental status of generating positive thoughts and imagery regarding yourself, inside your own head, the food and fuel you put into your physical body impacts how successfully you can tackle the day ahead.

Whether it's choosing to eat a well rounded, protein-packed, breakfast to jump-start your day, or cutting back on added sugars and eating one dessert a week to lower your overall blood sugar. Each of these smart dietary decisions really add up towards a healthier, fueled, you.
5. Help Be Someone Else's Change.

Taking even 30 seconds out of your day to stop and do something unexpected for another person, particularly a relative stranger, is the surest way to immediately brighten up your universe. For me ROAKs (random act of kindness) are kind of like a drug. Whether I do them in a moment for someone directly in front of me, or I leave a little bit of kindness behind for an undetermined person to discover, the knowledge that I have done something nice to improve someone else's day is in a sense even better than having someone do something kind for me.

You never know, your little act of kindness just might be the shift someone needs to succeed that particular day, or even a much greater inspiration to pass on the kindness to someone else.
Take a time out to tackle 1 or 2 of these easy steps to be a champion on behalf of the universe and brighter a strangers day. Find more fun hacks and tips in #thewooofpoo on Amazon. #AD
The WOO of POO: Change Your Life In The Time You Take a Sh*t has several proactive exercises at the end of each chapter intended to inspire you to begin putting the principles of the previous pages into action.

One of my favorite Take A Shift exercises from the book is one in which Suzy and The Poo Crew list 10 life hacks to 'be a secret agent on behalf of the universe'. There are 5 of my favorite quick hacks, taken from the exercise, above but you'll find all 10, and many more fun tips and tricks in the easy to digest (pun intended) book, for sale on Amazon, now.
Now that you're prepared to start changing your universe through positive thoughts and powerful deliberate actions, it might be a great time to perk up your bathroom. Check out the all new, limited edition, WOO of POO Before-You-Go® Toilet Spray. Not only is this a woman-entrepreneur driven product, made in the USA, it's made of real essential oils and free of parabens, alcohol, and synthetic fragrances. It'll literally change the way you sh*t so you can go boldy in more places than ever before!

It's not always struggling with those internal whispers when going through each day, but, as Momma indicates, you are your biggest champion. Add Some Flavor To Your Summer- D.I.Y Color Toss Tutorial #BeNotBland

#BeNotBland this Summer and create your own color toss- How to make colored corn starch! #AD
Now that Summer is in full swing I've heard a bit of restlessness from the masses.

Serious relaxation can be exhausting, ironically. But one thing it should never be is dull. That goes for your afternoon plans AND your beverage. Whether you're watching that beach bod, or simply craving the best variety of flavor to take on your Summer adventures Sparkling ICE should be your official drink of the season. With 10 tempting zero calorie flavors of Sparkling ICE water you'll never get bored of the colorful options to keep you hydrated.

Even better, for those practicing doing absolutely nothing, you can have your favorite Sparkling ICE varieties delivered right to your door, thanks to Amazon Prime. Members can even save up to 15% on each delivery when they sign up to Subscribe and Save!
But Summer's much more than delicious sips and sparkling fizz- it's important that you truly un-bland your Summer with creative adventures and wild celebrations. You don't need a reason to let loose, the season is reason enough! That's why we're grabbing our Sparkling ICE and taking to color like water droplets on a freshly popped bottle. Yup- it's time to paint the sky, and the grass, and ourselves with a little help from a D.I.Y color toss!

Much like sparkling flavor shouldn't have to come at the cost of calories, a good old-fashioned modern color toss shouldn't be something reserved for a once a year event on city streets. No, I need flavor AND color in my life, and I need them in a big way. How fun would it be to stage gender announcements with a color toss photo-shoot? Or host a color wars themed family reunion party? Heck, even the kids would have a barrel of a good time watching a cloud of color shoot through the sky for no reason other than it's Tuesday. So I bring you the very simple process for making your own Color Toss powder at home-
1. Begin with some basic materials- You are going to want 4-5 Cups of basic cornstarch, depending on how much, and how many colors, you are attempting to yield. You will also need stain resistant mixing bowls (1 for each color,) gloves to protect your hands from staining, gel based food colors of choice, and Water. Here is the supply breakdown for 1 batch (Approximately 1 Cup of Color Toss):

1 C Cornstarch
1/3 C Room Temperature Water
6-8 Drops Gel Based Food Color
Stain Resistant Mixing Bowl
Gloves
Baking Sheet (For Drying)
2. Begin by placing 1 Cup of cornstarch in a mixing bowl. Add the water slowly, but steadily, stirring as you add. This may be easiest to do with a second pair of hands to pour as you stir. The mixture will want to seize and turn into a substance referred to as 'Oooblek'. Keeping the motion constant will help the mixture maintain its’ liquid-like properties and allow all of the cornstarch to be evenly absorbed. You may need to add more water if the mixture thickens beyond a rough slurry. You will know you have reached the correct consistency when the mixture oozes off a spoon rapidly, but with enough thickness to coat it in entirety.
3. If you are lucky, and have that second pair of hands, you can add your food color without ever stopping stirring. Make the color of the mixture significantly darker than your desired result as most of the liquid will evaporate out during the drying process and the powder will be several shades lighter when done.
4. Repeat this process for each color your desire to make. As you go you will quickly find a simple technique and water ratio that works best for you. By my 4th color I was a pro. Once all of the colors are mixed place the bowls in a dry place where they can rest for several days. If you are using large bowls and your liquid pool is shallow your colors will dry much quicker than smaller, taller, bowls.

In most cases the colors will be ready for the next step in 2-3 days- you can 'drain' the excess liquid every few hours after the color has initially set, to help speed the process. Otherwise, set them aside and check back in several days for surface cracks. This is how you will know the color is 'done'. Why not pop onto Amazon and refill your supply of Sparkling ICE while you wait? You don't want to be out of delicious sparkling refreshments when it comes time to reveal your big color toss!

5. Flip the color 'cakes' out onto a clean baking/cookie sheet. The color should crumble with light texture and will feel like soft, cool, red clay to the touch. The texture should remind you of chalk. Pre-heat your oven to 200F and crumble your color 'cakes' while you wait. Try and make the crumble as fine and even as possible, spreading it out in a thin layer along the sheet.
6. Bake your color in a 200F pre-heated oven for 45-60 minutes. Depending on how moist your color was upon crumbling, you may need to adjust this time more or less. The heating process will draw any remaining moisture out. It is important that you allow your color to 'cool' before the next step or any humidity from the heating process could make your final product clumpy or gritty.
7. For this last step you're going to want a nice food processor. Something meant to puree. Carefully add one tray's contents to the bin of a food processor or blender, securing the lid tightly- the color will 'puff' and 'smoke' around any open edge- you've been warned. Hit a quick 'pulse' then puree or blend on the highest setting for 30 seconds. Over processing can cause heat and, again, release any residual moisture, so be careful to take your time and check your product in between steps.

8. Now you should have a very fine, chalk dust, powder that steaks your hands when pressed between a few fingers. The color should lift from most surfaces with ease, unless moisture is added. While it is made with food grade ingredients you may also want to wear eye-wear, such as sunglasses, and be mindful of faces when tossing to minimize inhalation. Unless you don't mind sneezing colors for the next few days, that is.

You may be wondering what on Earth a person would do with colored powder, or why in heavens they'd want to stain everything in sight with it. If you are, then you and I are completely different people. This is okay.

One of the greatest things about this project is that the color can be stored in air tight containers for months. Pull some out for a photo-shoot, celebration, or simply to brighten an otherwise dull day. And yes, you could even smuggle it into your favorite color marathon event. I can only imagine the color combinations and color creations that are possible when one mixes all the beautiful vivid food colors available on Amazon! It's kind of like the range of 10 vibrant calorie-free flavors of Sparkling ICE available on Amazon Prime!
If you're still on the fence- and if you read my blog you're probably ALL OVER THIS and making the shopping list now, but IF you are I have a few things to say...

Because this color toss recipe is made with simple food grade ingredients, children, pets, grandparents, neighbors, cars, and more can get in on the fun. Yes, the powder is VERY fine, and wind WILL give it a mind of it's own-but the majority of the color lifts WITH the powder and will wipe off of nearly any surface so long as moisture isn't involved. A leaf blower, vacuum, or box fan makes clean up a breeze- any residual color, outdoors, dissipates naturally within a few days.
I've had a lot of experience shooting color clouds and color events. We spent about 10 minutes on this photo shoot because my week has been bananas, and I captured some pretty fun shots. My best tips for staging photos is to use a high burst setting. If you're going to shoot outdoors obscured direct lighting is best- shoot for a background that is high contrast light or high contrast dark. The less going on, the more action your color will have. Cool tones, such as lime green and electric blue tend to pop the most on camera. The color will offer a beautiful cloud effect immediately as it hits a surface, followed by an entirely un-readable haze. Be fast.
One thing I really want to do is get our friends together for a cookout this Summer and play flag football, tug of war, and other team sports. I think it would be fun to kick our events off with a color toss to 'mark' our team. Can you imagine the group photos? Even better, since I can easily re-order my Sparkling ICE favorites with my Amazon dash button, I'll have plenty of flavor for my guests to sip while we infuse a little extra color, and flavor, into our Summer.

So there you have it, 2 great ways to infuse flavor and color into your Summer plans. Both are even better when shared with family or friends, but we won't fault you if you want to keep all the fun to yourself!

5 Sure-Fire Ways To Instantly Add Sparkle To Your Summer

#BeNotBland with 5 simple ways to add instant sparkle to your Summer, including a Unicorn Mocktail recipe! #AD
Summer is here at last.

But for some, the Summer challenged, this occasion is marked by countless hours binge watching Amazon Prime and ordering in takeout. They have no plan, no places to go, no parties to crash and will otherwise subject themselves to a sparkle-less Summer. So I rise up, as a Summer warrior and say, "Wait not for Summer to come to you, rather, bring yourself to it.

Sure a few days of proper laziness are in order at the beginning of every Summer- after all you've earned it. But you've also earned the chance to shine like the magical unicorn you truly are. It's time to finally book that tandem sky-dive, to at long last attempt that elusive world record, to call up that long last friend from high school and leave an embarrassing trail of Instagram Stories! This is the season it all happens, no regrets! Call your local tattoo shop for that portrait of your childhood Labrador, turn the car on and drive until the gas tank is empty, and wear that 90's tie-dye t-shirt until the colors have faded from exposure to the sun.
Not feeling quite so bold?

It's okay, all you need to do is unlock your inner sparkle. It can be tough to bet back into the swing of fun and relaxation after you've worked so hard all year to fit in as a productive member of society. Maybe you're not quite ready to flaunt your curves boldly onto that beach and blind everyone with your gorgeous milky white skin. Or maybe you're afraid to let your inner sparkle free for fear the very fabric of time might tear open with the awesomeness that is you unbridled and completely free. Maybe your family appreciates you for recognizing this- but truth be told this is YOUR Summer and every second that ticks by, you're not getting back. Now is the time. Today is the day to make your Summer sparkle.
It's okay if you're closer to the 'sparkler' stage than full on fireworks. Everyone has their own speed of sparkle. However I've combined a few of my favorite sure-fire ways to add sparkle to any Summer, for those in need of a little inspiration, or simply short on time. My first one? Ordering my favorite Summer essentials through Amazon Prime with the Amazon Dash button.

Appealing both to my lazy side, and party side, this little button of magic is delivered to your door pre-loaded with instant magic. This particular button is set to instantly order my favorite Summer beverage, Sparkling Ice. One quick press and *POOF* a 12 count, 17 ounce, variety pack of zero calorie sparkling goodness arrives on my doorstep in less than 2 days. It's kind of like having a smart fridge or, and when you look at it that way, any other surface you want to stick it.
#BeNotBland with 5 simple ways to add instant sparkle to your Summer, including a Unicorn Mocktail recipe! #AD
It might sound sill but rule Number 1 to a sparkling Summer is delicious drinks in never-ending flavors, with awesome sparkle. Sparkling Ice comes in 15 zero calorie flavors of sparkling water that if far from dull. With flavors such as Black Raspberry and Coconut Pineapple it's a party for your taste-buds- truly, as delicious zero calorie flavors dance to perfectly chilled carbonation. No need to worry about that bikini bod, you'll have plenty of room for all your favorite sweet Summer treats when you're sipping blissfully from your favorite flavors of Sparkling Ice all Summer.
Of course you'll want to bring your Sparkling Ice on all sorts of adventures-

What's that? Adventures are too hard to find and take too much planning and effort? Why not explore the world through your dog's eyes and plan an impromptu day out just for you and man's best friend? Kiddie pools are all the rage right now for dog owners. They're a wonderful way to cool off, but we suggest filling them with ball pit balls- these colorful plastic balls will spill everywhere as your dog goes wild hunting for a favorite toy or treat. And what's sparkly if not puppy dog tails and rainbows?
If you're still working on inspiring yourself to get outdoors for the season consider tackling a new hobby or craft. Something as simple as a tie-knot fleece blanket can help spread sparkle to strangers in the form of a donation and build sparkling confidence in the form of pride and determination. Play with fun prints and patterns to bring an extra touch of fun- or try your hand at recreating our famous 'Unicorn Tie Blanket'- occasionally I've been known to even imagine I'm an actual unicorn underneath it's main of rainbow ribbons.
#BeNotBland with 5 simple ways to add instant sparkle to your Summer, including a Unicorn Mocktail recipe! #AD
Of course one of my favorite things about Summer is the dress code. There is none.

Hey now, I'm not suggesting you practice strutting your birthday suit down Main St but there is a certain amount of social acceptable fashion faux pas built into this season. For me I try to make every day off feel like I'm at sea on a Caribbean cruise. It's all about bright colors, loud prints, and slowing fabrics that make me feel comfortable and confident. Worst case, I look like a tourist in my home town- which is fine by me, tourists are on VACATION and that's where I'd like to feel I am, too!
When the sun comes out, and temperatures rise, WATER is a hot commodity. Whether it's a theme park or the local pool everyone wants to cool off. This year, though, I think Nora is just glad to finally be able to show off that impressive bikini bod she's been working on so hard.

And while we're by the pool you better believe we're sipping something sparkly- In fact we've designed a 0 Calorie Unicorn Mocktail that's always a little different each time we make it. Just like a unicorn leaping over a rainbow the colors, and flavors, blur for one sweet magical mess. My secret ingredient? Sparkling Ice, of course- it's how I make the Sugar Free Vegan Gummy Bears that give it such a playful pop- kind of like sparkling Boba!
#BeNotBland with the Zero Calorie Unicorn Mocktail- Complete with homemade Sugar Free Vegan Gummy Beat Garnish! #AD
To make this amazing 0 Calorie Unicorn Mocktail you'll want to head on over to Amazon Prime and order your Sprakling Ice variety pack right now- then scroll to the end of this post for my exclusive Sugar Free Vegan Gummy Bear recipe. To build your mocktail you'll need:

7-10 Sugar Free Vegan Homemade Gummy Bears
Sanding Sugar In Blue + Yellow (Optional)
Unicorn Horn Lollipop or Rock Candy Stick (Optional)
Ice

1. Dampen a paper towel with water and wet the rim of your glass. Pour 1 TBS blue and 1 TBS Yellow sanding sugar onto the corner of a paper plate or wide bowl. Gently roll 1/3 of the glass rim in the yellow sanding sugar. Next roll the side opposite into the blue. You should have two gaps between the colors- roll these spaces liberally in both sugars so as to blend them into a faded green color.

2. Add ice to the brim of your glass. Insert any straws and 'horn' accents now.

3. Slowly pour Orange Mango Sparkling Ice into the glass until it is just under 3/4 full.  Top with Black Raspberry Sparkling Ice, leaving 1/2" of gap to the rim to allow for melting.

4. Garnish with homemade Sugar Free Vegan Gummy Bears (recipe at the bottom of post) and edible star sprinkles.
Naturally your mocktail will sparkle no matter which flavors you decide to blend- just keep in mind the darker Sparkling Ice flavors will quickly take over the complexion of your drink, so add them sparingly at first.

Lastly, unicorns are all the rage, in general this year, so feel free to unleash your inner sparkle with a literal unicorn. We happened to score an amazing Pegasus 'floating island' for the pool Jay is constantly reminding me is NOT a unicorn. Horn, no horn, he can't seem to get his butt off it. Seriously this girl is stuck hanging halfway off the pizza floatie. But who am I to deny his Summer sparkle?
In fact, if you really want to knock the sparkle out of the park this Summer you could bring a case or two of Sparkling Ice to your next cookout or party and challenge your friends and family to devise a zero-calorie unicorn cocktail of their own. With 15 delicious flavors to choose from, you could watch the colors, and flavors meld all day. Honestly, I'm never bored when there's a Sparkling Ice near by! No matter which of these instant sparkle methods you use (and I fully suggest you use as many as possible, as often as possible) you're sure to be on the right track to a magical Summer. Now if any of you could tell me which of my Sparkling Ice flavors I need to trade to convince Jay to come back in off my Pegasus floatie, I'd be ever so grateful. Follow the #BeNotBland hashtag on social media form ore great ways to add flavor to your Summer!
