Momma Told Me: Life's short, eat cake.
When it comes down to cake there are a few occasions we often think of first; birthdays, weddings, and parties. Generally, you have to be celebrating an event, or hosting a large gathering to enjoy a cake, right? That's exactly the reasoning behind Bake Me A Wish!, the company that believes everyone deserves to enjoy a little gourmet cake on their special day- no matter where they are, or what they're celebrating. In fact, Bake Me A Wish! believes you ARE the celebration, and no other reason is necessary to indulge. The fact is cakes come in thousands of flavors and sizes; they may say 'I Love You', or 'Hope Terrific Threes are better than Terrible Twos'. They can celebrate accomplishments, partnerships, and even bravery! What better way to honor your significant other, this year then with their own personal cake? The only problem is, it's kind of hard to ship a cake, or is it?
Bake Me a Wish! specializes in unique gourmet cakes, shipped overnight, nationwide. They offer something within everyone's budget in tasty flavors such as 'Magic Bar Brownie'. While I can attest, from years of loyal experiences, these cakes are in fact gourmet and tempting, there is one aspect I appreciate most. Bake Me A Wish! partners with Soldier's Angels to offer what they call the Freedom Cake. When you purchase the Freedom Cake for a loved one in the US, Bake Me A Wish! will deliver a gourmet cake to a soldier serving overseas, in the name of that person. Each Freedom Cake features a special card informing the recipient that a cake has been sent to a soldier in their name, alongside an imprint of the American Flag. What a wonderfully patriotic gift to honor a loved one, or more importantly, to celebrate any day you enjoy your freedom!
I've indulged in the brand's super sweet, always decadent, never caked in frosting, gourmet cakes for years; but only recently discovered their expanding line of delicious baked goods. Found in the 'Bakery' tab of the company's website, customers can choose from pre-mixed variety samplers of mouth-watering cookies and brownies. Flavors such as Lemon Sugar, Snickerdoodle, and Ginger Molases round out the year round cookie selections, while Velvet Ganache and Cheesecake brownies rival the creativity and artisan style of the well known cakes. Can't pick just one? Bundle cookies and brownies, or have a sampler added onto the cake of your choice for a gift that is much more than a little sweet; it's a party in a box. (erm, or Styrofoam cooler).
I have long been a fan of Bake Me A Wish!'s presentation, with gold and purple boxes dressed in ribbon; tucked neatly in an overnight shipping cooler with a card and message of choice. I'd honestly expect higher shipping costs and hidden charges for such a premium service, but Bake Me A Wish! stands among some of the big dogs as a top gourmet delivery service. They seem to have their processing and delivery down to an art, so your special someone can enjoy sweet bliss on their special occasion. While their basic 'Singular Sensations' cakes may seem a little small on paper, these are some of the most decadent desserts I've ever had the privilege of indulging in. A little slice goes a long way to satisfy my sweet tooth.
Recently I was spoiled with the chance to try a Cookies and Cream Brownie Cake and 2 Dozen Assorted Cookies gift. Packaged separately, and each pair of cookies wrapped and labeled individually, this was the perfect mini-celebration in a foam box. Both items were cool to the touch upon arrival and not a cookie crumb was out of place. The 'brownie cake' was truly not an understatement, this was a very dense cake that melted like fudge along my palette and was complimented well by the addition of chocolate ribbons and cookie crumbles. It is nearly impossible to eat without a tall glass of ice cold milk (or milk substitute in our house), and was especially tempting when heated on high in the microwave for 10 seconds.
The cookies were a little stiff upon arrival, due to the chill of packaging, so I allowed these to sit out at room temperature overnight before tearing into them. Jay and Sabrina (10) gravitated towards the classic flavors, such as Oatmeal Raisin and Chocolate Chip, while I immediately fell in love with the buttery Almond Butter cookies, dusted in a thick layer of powdered sugar. The Ginger Molasses were a nice seasonal minded treat that had a soft texture and chewy spring to each bite, while the Lemon Sugar were enjoyed alongside a hot cup of Black Tea. It's hard not to let your eyes do the shopping when faced with a table covered in gourmet Bake Me A Wish! goodies, but even the youngest agreed eating more than a small wedge of the cake, and a cookie, at once was 'dangerous.' We managed to escape without a sugar coma, narrowly, and can't wait to share Bake Me A Wish! with our friends and family again soon!
