Momma Told Me: It's by the bottle cap shaped like Elvis!

I love baking, but there are two things I dread when heading into my kitchen to begin a project; the clean up and finding the right tools for the project. Much like a carpenter, a baker layers ingredients and decorations to tantalize the senses; touch, site, smell, taste. And while, I'm certain, we have all been 'there' swapping a Tonka truck scoop for a measuring cup, or trying to figure out how to substitute baking soda for cream of tartar; having a good organization system can displace some of the stress. I can't even begin to tell you the number of times I've gone to the store and purchased an implement or ingredient I already owned, simply because I didn't desire to search for it in my kitchen anymore. That's how my cabinet became cluttered with 3 tubs of baking powder, 2 canisters of cocoa, and 4 tubes of red food coloring gel!

Now, every good architect and baker, knows that the key to a good schematic is to maximize space. When Momma told me I had to give away all of the toys that no longer fit in my toy chest, at age 6, I quickly learned the skills of Tetris do apply in real life. Our kitchen has very tall shelves with only 3 separate compartments for storage. Every since we moved in over a year back I have thrown back the cupboard doors only to sigh at the near foot of storage space being wasted above the sea of bottles and shakers. This lead to the inevitable 'stacking' of spices and baking elements, and the equally inevitable silent cursing as one opened the cupboard only to have them all come tumbling down.

So, when I heard YouCopia was introducing a new organizer to their stackable compartment kitchen organization range, I was thrilled to learn it was specifically for baking supplies and ingredients. I had reviewed the CoffeeStack for K-Cup (single cup brewer) organization late last year, and been thrilled with the space saving results and ease of organization. To this day I still get compliments whenever a guest comes over and enjoys a freshly brewed cup. Not only are the YouCopia organizers simple to use and affordable to invest in, but they can easily be stacked atop each other, or side by side, for maximum space efficiency. The newest product, the BakeStack is no exception, with three levels of highly customizable shelves to accommodate baking implements big to small.

Much like the previous YouCopia organizers, each tier has a shelf that pulls out, and tilts down, allowing for easy visualization for shorter chefs, or for higher shelving compartments. Included with the BakeStack are 18 drawer dividers and 18 write-on labels to mark each shelf and the contents inside for an at-a-glance look. The unit is sold already assembled, though it is up to the consumer to arrange the plastic dividers to suit their needs. Personally, I found myself needing a few more dividers, and wishing some of the shorter ones had notches to interlock with other shorter dividers. In the end, however, I was able to clear out half a drawer of food coloring and decorations, and tidy up a large portion of icing, candles, and confectionery sticks. Each drawer is surprisingly deep and can support a fair amount of weight

YouCopia also makes a shelving unit for spices, medicine, and single cup brewers. All units do seem to fit the short width, square shapes for now; I'd love to see the brand branch out into silverware/drawer organization, and some longer slender units for crafting and desks.

What Daughter Says: Stop sending your kitchen helpers on scavenger hunts. Keep your baking implements well organized with a BakeStack unit.
