Momma Told Me: You can't just put the dog in a suitcase!

More and more people these days are treating their pets like children. Small breed dogs are more popular than ever, and that means investing in smart travel accessories that are easy to clean and multi-purpose. With two teacup Yorkies, my Aunt is the perfect example of who to gift pet gear too. Not only does she proclaim them her second set of kids, but Miley and Harley are never far from her side, whether vacationing in Palm Springs or at the office. She has invested countless dollars in travel accessories to keep them comfortable and safe, and when it comes to gifting, she is always tickled to receive new gear for her furry children. Having had our own tiny ball of fluff (hair, technically) for over a year now, it's easy to see how the needs of a small breed pet owner are constantly evolving. Pet owners want something lightweight, after all that's why they have a small breed dog, right? They also need something that is durable and simple to keep clean, while performing multiple functions on the go. When I was first introduced to the SHERPA Park Tote I was instantly in love- but how well would the concept transition to reality?
Made by well established Pet transport brand, SHERPA, the Park Tote is currently sold online at Simply Dogs And Cats, and is available in 2 colors, black or brown, and 2 sizes, small or medium. What makes this pet carrier different from 'all the others' is it's unique ability to transform from utility mode (carrier) to play mat in less than 30 seconds! This works especially well for us, as we have 'spot trained' Nora to stay on a designated pet bed/surface unless told otherwise. That means we can now transport her in the ultra lightweight SHERPA Park Tote to grandpa's house and unzip the carrier into a stain resistant play surface that keeps her off the carpet and engaged with her toys.
The Park Tote has several classic carrier features like built in seat belt strap pocket, roll up mesh 'window', side or top entry, soft faux lambskin floor and is entirely machine washable. Of course what really spoke to me was the Zebra and Leopard print linings that compliment the chic black and brown exterior fabric. Nora is just over 5lbs, and about 14" long, when stretched, so she fits between the two Park Tote Sizes; but is quite content in the Small carrier for short road trips. It's especially nice that the top 'sunroof' mesh portion can easily be rolled back to allow for extra head space for well behaved pups, during travel. We own 5 carriers for Nora, and I have to admit, I have been most impressed with the Park Tote for ease of use and affordability. No instructions were needed to figure out how to tear down or re-build the Park Tote- it's all simple zippers along seams.

While we've used the Park Tote several times now, the unfolded 'mat' never sits quite flat, but still stays put while Nora is tossing her toys about. It's adorable to watch her fling a chew toy 'across the property line' then scurry to pick it up, and run back to her SHERPA pad! The carrier, itself, had a removable 'floorboard' liner that adds a rigid composition when in carrier mode, and doubles for warmth during cooler weather. Since I used to have to tote a giant pet bed AND carrier to my Pop's house when visiting, the SHERPA Park Tote has truly made out lives much less complicated, and Nora seems to approve! The Park Tote is currently priced under $60 and would make the perfect gift for any pet parent, or travel necessity this holiday season.

What Daughter Says: Don't choose to bring the pet bed or the carrier, bring both with the Park Tote!

  16. I'd pick the black in medium, we don't have any dogs under 8 lbs so a small wouldn't work.

  17. If I won I would choose the Medium Black Park Tote. It's too bad they don't make a jumbo size - I have one kitty who is 18 pounds. :)
