#9thandElmIntro: Handmade Boutique Online + 3 Winner $400 Giveaway~ 10/30 #ad

***This is a Fashionista Event.  I was given a promotional item to review by 9thandElm.com to share my opinions about the website.  All opinions are my own. All photos and graphics are original content, created by Jenna M. Wood for Momma Told Me Blog 2013.
Momma Told Me: I'm just waiting to be discovered.

I've shared before, my memories of 'working' the annual Fall Harvest Festival with my mother and her best friend, our neighbor from across the path. As a stay at home mom, Momma's biggest contribution to our household came not from coupon clipping and PTA meetings, but the chunk of change she would take home every Fall (craft season). We (myself as moral support and glue gun string cleaner) worked all year round for those two golden weeks when we'd be able to showcase all of Momma's creativity and skills in a tiny pop-up booth at the local municipal park. We'd pay a modest $55 fee for a spot for two days, two weekends a year, and Momma would sell her leftover creations at consignment stores and Pennysaver boutiques during the rest of the year.
Heart Dangle Earrings
I'm telling you this because, well, some of Momma's creations were actually quite ingenious. In fact, she was one of the very first to make the 'Time Out Dolls' you'd find on porches and room corners across the nation. Naturally, the idea was snapped up by a manufacturing company who in turn made the characters much cheaper and uniform than those with Momma's handmade touch. It's memories such as these that remind me how important it is to support our handmade community. And, when Etsy came out, as wonderful as it is, I was again overwhelmed by the sheer presence of thousands of artisans competing for my dollar. I have long ached for a place where the best designers could showcase their knitting and jewelry in a professional venue that is easy to browse and buy. Luckily my prayers were answered in the form of 9thandElm.com.
9thandElm.com is a sort of 24/7 handmade fashion boutique, where the deals are even better than the artisan's personal boutique prices, and shipping is mainstreamed through the 9thandElm.com system. But, beware, artisans featured changed daily, and all 'shops' are operating on a pre-determined window of time; so it's important to buy your favorite pieces when they pop up. Beware: I've lost out on 2 amazing pieces already because I waited to buy them all at once and they hit the 9thandElm.com daily newsletter. Once a piece makes it to the front page, battles literally ensure as customers race to the checkout for these unique pieces. I tried to be nonchalant during my first visit, with over a dozen artisans to shop that first log in- but I quickly found myself suckered back in day after day to scoop out the latest designs.
Hope Party BraceletCircus Elephant Clutch
9thandElm.com is a handmade marketplace specializing in fashion and jewelry, but you never know what will turn up on that main page. I've seen gorgeous genuine gemstone pieces, eye-popping statement jewelry, handbags, dog dollars, gorgeous knit shawls and even a little black dress. This handmade marketplace is not only open 24/7, but offers fast shipping and specially curated sales and boutiques. I recently had the chance to go shopping and picked out 4 stunning items for just under $70! The first item I simply couldn't live without was a Circus Elephant clutch with beautiful silver accents and a generous capacity for storage. The soft cotton blend material is lightweight, and the pink stripe umbrellas on the front add a touch of whimsy that really accents my style.
I was also able to pick up some single strand Heart Dangle Earrings that are a bit more dainty than my usual chunky jewelry picks, but offer a more casual everyday look that is easy to wear. The Black Flower statement necklace I ordered next was a bit more bold and dressy, and even came with a matching pair of earrings (not shown), for a nice bonus. I was impressed with the quality of this piece, and how seamless the design was. Lastly, I jumped into the current Nautical trend with a 'Hope' Sailor Arm Party Bracelet that appears to have multiple strands, but merges on a single clasp. This layered bracelet is lightweight and more rustic in style than the previous pieces, but fits my everyday style perfectly.

Not only did I receive full processing updates on each of my four orders, but the shipping speed was impressive. I got the impression each artisan shipped their orders from their end, as there were a few little touches that I usually associate with handmade buys; including themed tissue paper and handwritten thank you notes. I love supporting handmade artisans, but I love finding one-of-a-kind accessories even more, thanks 9thandElm.com!
