By now my loyal readers have already heard the tale of how I got my first bowl cut; but I will briefly review the story for those who are new. Essentially, I hated to wash my hair as a child. I disliked drying it equally as much (Momma would always insist I'd catch a cold if I didn't), though there was something about the scrubbing and the rinsing I detested. Perhaps when I was just a little younger I'd had a bad experience with shampoo in my eyes, or maybe I simple didn't care for the Head and Shoulders that my parents insisted we all use. By the age of 6 or 7 I had beautiful golden blonde hair down to my butt. And then one day, I did not. I never believed Momma would make good on her threats to 'chop it all off,' should I not improve my personal hygiene, but she certainly did. I was devastated, and it was a lesson well learned; perhaps if I'd had a fun, child friendly shampoo on hand in the shower the lesson would have never been necessary.
Sabrina, 10, exhibits the same hesitancy to properly cleanse her own long, and very thick, hair. She has worked out, neigh, negotiated, an every other day schedule to wash it. Even at that it is sometimes a battle to ensure root to tip is cleaned and rinsed properly. As a pre-teen, at 10, it is especially important she develops those personal guidelines for cleanliness and presentation. Classmates can be especially cruel at this age, and it would be a shame to see her gorgeous locks compromised by poor grooming habits. Naturally Sabrina and I have different opinions as to what is important when choosing bath time products. When shopping she is drawn to colorful products with fun gimmicks and scents. What I look for are safe formulas gentle enough for developing skin, and products that will simplify the bathing process to encourage detailed cleansing.
You may not realize the Dial brand has been leading trusted skincare products for over 60 years. The other half refuses to use anything other than their Dial Gold Bar line, which he was raised with, and I have a few of the brand's products in the bath as well. Their new Coconut Water Body Wash has quickly become a favorite for it's nourishing coconut water infusion that keeps the fragrance gender neutral, yet the results rich and moisturizing. Developed with Pediatric Dermatologists, the new Dial Kids range of Body + Hair Washes aims to simplify bath time and protect delicate skin all at once. That's right, these 3 specially formulated scents, Peachy Clean (ages 2+), Watery Melon, and Berry Cool (ages 6+) are suitable for cleansing body and hair. When less products are involved in the bathing process kids are more likely to adapt regular cleansing rituals.
In any case, our experience with the new Dial Kids range has been very positive. Sabrina has already asked me what other scents (she calls it a flavor because it's fruity), the other bottles come in. I like how the product leaves a very subtle scent behind, post bathing, and no residue on the skin or hair. The Dial Kids range is tear free, hypoallergenic, free of artificial dyes or parabens, and Ph balanced; that's more than I can say for most of the products I use! This range of products is currently on shelves nationwide at a variety of major grocery retailers. Like most Purex branded reviews, this one comes with a giveaway and a chance to win big in their promotional sweepstakes. Head on over here to enter to win free product, or the $1000 grand prize; entries valid now through April 26, 2013.

This looks like a great product for the kids. I know that I far prefer body wash to a straight bar of soap.
