Air Hogs Hypertrax and Hyper Active 5 Remote Control Vehicle #HyperRace
Momma Told Me: Get out and do something!

Even when I was a young girl the coolest toys always had batteries. They were toys that encouraged imaginative play, but also had an interactive feature that put me, the kid, in control. Today most 'interactive' games are more-so video games, rather than toys, and hardly require any 'action' at all. Where did all the fun go from playing with toys? Admittedly, part of the fun in online and console gaming is the control you have over your environment, you can be anyone and play with anything. A tangible plastic toy is hard pressed to compete even with modern color and customization options. Let's face it, kids get bored quick. They crave entertainment that is constantly changing and never quite exactly the same.

It's no secret I was a bit of a tomboy growing up. I'd rather spend hours with a classic LEGO set than any Barbie Dreamhouse. When I was about 8, I recall, there were two brothers around my age who lived a few units down. every Saturday afternoon they'd set out these ramps, turn over trash cans, and create makeshift tunnels to drive their remote-controlled cars through. The 'remote' control was very intimidating and nearly the size of their head with an assortment of fancy knobs and toggles. I'd sit on my porch, scratching sidewalk chalk into the steps, and cast admirative gazes in awe. A few Summers later my father invested in a remote water vehicle in an attempt to bond with me through this interest. After two frustrating afternoons the boat was permanently docked, it was much too advanced for my level of patience.

That's what I love about Air Hogs; their expansive line of air and ground remote vehicles range in complexity and skill. For those interested in starting a new hobby, or simply bonding with a daughter or son, they have the perfect vehicles to ease into a new racing interest. In fact, their newest land vehicles are not only impressively fast and agile, but incredibly simple to learn and fun to master. The performace-similar, but featurally different Hypertrax and Hyper Active 5 Air Hogs land vehicles are optimized for indoor play with their rugged and durable lightweight frames (about 7" in length) that can handle up to 500MPH scaled speed.

While the Hypertrax looks more bulky and awkward to navigate we actually found it's speeds seemed faster up front; that is, when you can navigate it. The Hypertrax has a very tight 360 turning radius thanks to the continuous tread tires, and a very sensitive navigation control. It's a great thing this bad boy can drive upside down because a lot of high speed collisions see the vehicle flipping. This is the perfect land vehicle for ramps and even uneven terrain (it will handle dirt, grass, and carpet much better than the Hyper Active 5.) One of the things I also like about it is the battery charging, which relies on housing the batteries in the remote control and feeding power to the car via charging sessions.

The Hyper Active 5 is named such because of its functioning 5th wheel which will provide for unique entertainment as the lightweight car flips and attempts to right itself by turning on edge. It has a wider tuning radius and more stable control time (for less experienced drivers and younger reaction skills,) and performs best on a flat surface. Unlike the Hypertrax, you will have to install batteries in the car and control for operation- and this car seemed to lose juice a little faster using the same brand of batteries.

Hosting a family #HyperRace is easier than ever with this grab and go land vehicles. We spent our Monday afternoon setting up a mock track in the empty lot out back. It was a little windy, but the vehicles held up very well as we did flat 'time trials' and even chased one another down. While the Hypertrax seemed to move much faster it proved to be more of a challenge for it's operator to master, leaving the Hyper Active at the finish line first 4 times out of 5! After having experimented with some of Air Hogs more advanced flying models, Sabrina was sure to let me know that I should tell my readers that these "cars are so much fun, and so easy to use!" I was then promptly asked when we could race again.
